Nervous Gender / Beelzebub Youth – “Music From Hell” LP (1981)

You’d think, with all the bottom of the barrel scrapings that have been showing up as “re-issues” these days, that someone would have grabbed this record. While the minimalist synth stylings on this disc sound dated, the general frame of mind expressed on this record has a sort of a timeless quality that holds strong. Musical style changes, but the heroin / LSD cocktail these guys were probably ingesting when they recorded this will be apparent to listeners throughout the ages.

Sacred Few – S/T 7″ (1982)
Perhaps this record isn’t as “sacred”, as it is over-hyped and over-priced. Save your pennies and get it here. This is some great, primitive early 80’s Metal, but nothing you haven’t heard before. My copy seems to have slightly different cover art than other copies I’ve seen (it’s missing the logo) and, for some reason, there are two covers folded on top of each other in the sleeve instead of one. These guys were from Cleveland, Ohio and went on to put out an LP that turns up every once in a while.

Brainiacs – S/T EP (1979)

Yeah, you’d think I’d post a copy of this with the picture sleeve, but that would have involved me spending more than ninety-nine cents, and I just don’t swing that way—and neither should you! What’s an original copy gonna do for you? Give you an orgasm every time you play it? This is pretty decent Punk that doesn’t really stand the test of time, but isn’t without its charm. The song “Don’t Tell Me Why” showed up on one of those KBD comps that I’m too lazy to dig up, but I think “Take Me To Paris” is the winner on this record.

Our Neighbors Suck – “Isolation” LP (1985)

I bought this record for no other reason than because it came out on Rock-o-Rama records (RRR 56), one of my all-time favorite labels. I had never heard of these guys at the time and, even now, the only other thing I am aware of by them is a track on one of those “We Got Party” comps that Mystic put out. Well, one would think that getting their music put out by two exquisitely scummy labels would do something for these guys? They certainly sound like a Mystic band! At any rate, this has to be one of the few forays into American Punk/HC that Rock-o-Rama embarked on, as by this time they were drifting more towards the RAC thing. This band was from Phoenix, AZ.
Well, as one may glean from some of the crap I post on the Blog, I am not the one to be offering any sort of definitive critique on such things, so maybe I’m missing something here? Old stuff like this certainly isn’t without its charm, I guess. Maybe I am, indeed, missing something, but the mix on this thing sounds lame and…uh…..yeah….I’m trying not to be a dick, but………….

Lavon Lambeth – “Man And His Awareness” LP (1975)

This guy comes of as such a douchebag on this thing, it’s mind numbing. In fact, he is so annoying it’s almost not funny—but it is, mostly because the man appears to be completely serious!
On the first side of the LP, Lavon builds himself up to be quite the playa, with lots of money, nice clothes, a stylin’ do, and hot chicks—but he still ain’t satisfied! Something’s missing! Oh, no! There must be a woman out there good enough for Lavon and, miraculously, there is! In fact, this chick be all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips so much, that he spends the better part of side two professing his passionate love for her—and he’s pretty darn serious about it, too!
This record came out thirty-four years ago and I still want to reach through the speakers and smack the guy when I play it.

Dead Kennedys – “Live At The Farm 1985″ (199?)

This is a good soundboard quality bootleg of a Dead Kennedys show recorded between the “Frankenchrist” and “Bedtime For Democracy” LPs. I’m not going to say the band was past their prime at this point, but they don’t sound nearly as much fun on this recording as they did on “Skateboard Party”. Actually, the best parts of the whole show involve Biafra bitching at the drunks, slam dancers and assorted Punk Rock morons who appear to be committing the unpardonable transgression of trying to have fun. But I wasn’t there, so what do I know?

The Teens – “Punk Girl” (1979)

The Teens were obviously a boy band, geared for young girls and, indeed, they are a dreamy bunch! They even have a punk-looking “rebel” kid with a leather jacket! One could only hope these guys rock as good as they look but, sadly, this is not the case. As a matter of fact this record totally blows, with the exception of “Punk Girl”, which is hilarious. The best line of the song right here:
“Punk Girl, we’re gonna make love…”
Assuming these kids are all under the age of 16, this could be construed as a threat of statutory rape in all parts of the US and most of the world!! Good job, kids! But it’s not like the actual kids wrote any of this shit anyway. This appears to have been a European release and, judging by names like Jorg and Uwe, I’d have to guess Sweden or one of those other Horgen Bjorgen countries. Pretty sure it was never officially released in the US.

David Peel & Death – “King of Punk” LP (1978)

If you will note the cover of this LP, you will see a picture of the filthy, greasy Hippie, David Peel, along with the dubious claim of being the “King Of Punk”. You might also note that my copy of this record is autographed, which makes me exceptionally cool. Should you click on the scan of the back cover, you will see that this band contains ten guitar players, three bass guitar players, six “percussionists” but no drummer, and fourteen people performing vocal duties. You will then reflect on the fact that having a shitload of musicians like this is exactly the sort of thing some stupid, filthy Hippie would fancy as cool, and feel a wave of revulsion coursing through your body.
But, despite these seemingly unpardonable sins, this record is still pretty good. Some of these tunes are a little repetitious, but that is to be expected from filthy, drug-addled Hippies who can’t remember lyrics because they lost their short-term memories along with their soap. Seriously, though, this record is hilarious and worth a listen.

Mick Farren & The Deviants – “Screwed Up” EP (1977)

The Deviants and Mick Farren should require no introduction, so I won’t. Sure, this guy was a filthy Hippie, but Mr. Poopy is forgiving in that regard, as the man always had more of a cynical, anti-social, anarchist bend to his songs that are more to my liking. On this record he decides to take a few old Hippie songs and punk them out with pretty decent results.

Johnny Flag – “America’s Going Down The Drain” Cassette (199?)

This is the first of many “underground”, “Right Wing” recordings I will be sharing here. If this sort of thing bugs you, don’t come here, because there is plenty more where this came from. The fact that the media demonizes and suppresses the messages of these people should be a clue to a clever person that these sorts of things deserve some scrutiny, but sheep will be sheep.
What we have here is some straight up country and western, all songs having been written by a certain Ross Hullett, who once headed the Oklahoma Militia. Lyrically, these songs are all hard-line anti-New World Order all the way with a bit of pro-Christian ideology thrown in for good measure. There was a huge boom of these sorts of groups during the Clinton administration and, once again, I am seeing a HUGE resurgence of this sort of thing since the election of the Messiah. In fact, these songs sound a lot more relevant now than when I first bought it around 1996 or so. While I could probably do without the Christian rhetoric, Mr. Flag socks it to ‘em on this thing and I can say that, with the possible exception of “Hide The Saxophone”, every song on here is pretty good—so good I can almost smell the gun oil!

HIPPIES: Hypocrisy and “Happiness” – Booklet (1968)
Well, I’m not even going to beat around the bush here. While there are a lot of factors that have been boiling under the surface for a long, long time that lead to the current crisis the US is facing, I don’t mind putting a nice chunk of the blame on this generation of assholes. At the very least, I can credit these guys with starting the ball rolling for all the PC, leftist horseshit that has me banging my head against the wall these days. At the same time, I can’t help but grudgingly tip my hat to the Hippies a little because they managed to kick up quite a stink at the time, the likes of which no youth movement has even come remotely close to touching. However, I blame a good part of their success to the fact that the authorities during those times were totally clueless on what to make of those people or how to handle them. Too bad they had to wait until May 4th, 1970 to get it right.
This booklet was written when the Hippie movement was going full force and does a nice job of showing it for what it was: a mass reaction to all the greed, hate, ugliness, war, conformity and miscellaneous bullshit this life has to offer. And it’s not like these kids were wrong to be outraged. The irony of this booklet lies in the fact that any Hippie who actually bought into what this particular author is laying down would have jumped right from the frying pan and into the fire. This is an interesting piece of history and one can certainly draw some comparisons to today’s wayward youth—especially those Emo kids! When all is said and done, I guess I can grudgingly give some slack to these misled rebels of yesteryear, despite all the problems they’ve caused. But, as for you contemporary Hippies? GO DIE!!! Preferably before I have to look at you or smell you again.
Yes, I kind of fucked up this scan—you have to rotate the view.

The Battalion of Saints – “Best of..”(1987)

It seemed like a lot of people had this one back in the day, but I have become aware that some folks out there have never heard it, so up it goes. Despite the title, this thing isn’t really a “best of”, but is actually a couple songs from the “Fighting Boys” seven inch, “Sweaty Little Girls” from the “Destroy LA” LP, and some early demos of songs that later showed up on the “Second Coming” LP. I’m not going to say the demo versions are better than the LP versions, but they are pretty good and I think I actually like them a little better in the long run. The flip side is a pretty decent live show with good soundboard quality that is totally listenable and features a somewhat modified version of “Panama”, by Van Halen.

LSD – “A Documentary Report” (1966)

Who the hell bought this record when it came out? Seeing as it is a major label release, I would assume it was squares across America, trying to understand all those worthless Hippies and keep their kids from “turning on”. All in all, this LP is a pretty interesting listen and certainly has its moments here and there. And what’s up with Timothy Leary? He sounds like “Stevie” from Malcolm In The Middle.

Roach Egg Invasion “Huevos Roacheros” LP (1985)

I have always questioned the hype surrounding some of those obscure Punk records people shell out hundreds of dollars for. Granted, some of those discs are God and almost worth it, but I’m not so sure about some of those records. But to each his own and it’s not my money being pissed away, now is it? I’ll use this record as a case in point, as I can pretty much bet you won’t be seeing it on any want lists any time soon and it will most likely never be worth much more than the five dollars I paid for it. Actually, I have to admit that this thing found it’s way to the bottom of my shit heap shortly after I found it, but years later its brilliance became more apparent and, for all intents and purposes, it captures the whole Punk Rock thing quite nicely—actually much better than most bands in my opinion.
For one thing, these guys can’t play for shit—I especially like the fact that the bass player only seems to know one lick and manages to play it in just about every song. Secondly, they were too cheap to pay for studio time so they recorded the thing live, complete with retardo comments between songs that I find hilarious, but not as hilarious as their song lyrics, which become a little more clear with repeated listens. And, lastly, I think the entire record captures the whole small city / town punk thing quite well, and that is supposedly what all that KBD shit is about in the first place. This band hailed from the cultural Mecca of Wichita, Kansas and my guess is they must have been the toast of the town back in 1985. A pox on those who can’t appreciate this record—you truly have your heads jammed up your rectums. Trust me, this thing gets a little better every time you play it!

Isaac Air Freight – “KUSS” (1980)

It takes a keen eye and a sharp wit to mine the gold from the piles of lame Christian records that fill the record bins of thrift stores across America. Suffice it to say, Mr. Poopy possesses such an eye and wit and, thus, I present you with these ridiculous recordings. Isaac Air Freight was a Christian comedy group who took a hard-line, fundamentalist approach for the most part, and cranked out a few albums in the 1970’s and 1980’s. These guys were by no means idiots and, unlike other contemporaries, actually possessed a fair degree of wit but, as one can only imagine, anything based on their kind of death-cult philosophy can do little but suck the fun out of just about anything!
What we have here is a skit on the evils of Punk Rock, featuring a fake band called “Kuss”. Actually, I think the band sounds pretty good—that “I’m Bored / You’re Bored” song really speaks to me! Classic stuff that I bet 99.9% of the punkers on the planet never had a chance to hear. I also offer up “Cult”, which I feel requires little explanation.
Take a closer look at the cover art below. On the front you have the guys preaching to a couple of scientist / mathematician types and a scholar, while on the back you see the scientists marginalized, wearing dunce caps, and the scholarly chap with his hat removed joining the gang in prayer—thus, the “fools are confounding the wise”! Get it? And the hilarity just goes on and on, so much so that I even uploaded the entire LP for you other nuts who get a kick out of getting into these people’s heads!

Chem Dyne – “Bad Luck With Fast Food” LP (1985)

Click the band pics on the left. Now listen to one of the tracks below. Now reflect on the fact that these guys sound just like they look! This band came out of Hamilton, Ohio, a town outside of Cincinnati whose only other musical talent that comes to mind are the awesome works of Janet Greene back in the 1960’s. At any rate, out of a seemingly endless cesspool of retardo Punk records I own, this puppy has always held strong in my top ten of dumbest records I have ever heard in my life. And what’s to say? A redneck does not a punker make, but that was probably not their intention anyway, as these guys later wound up becoming a decent country western band that sounded nothing like this slab-o-shit. If you think the lyrics on these songs are bad, you should hear the rest of the LP, which I have kindly provided for your listening pleasure, including the best cover of “Cold Gin” you will ever hear in your life. I will now borrow a quote from Chem Dyne to describe those who fail to appreciate the brilliance of this LP: “You’re stupid as hell, so go climb a tree…”

Sonny ‘n Sis / Mary Loves Lori (196? or 197?)

In an age of moral decline, it is hard to find a study of brotherly love and women’s studies portrayed as effectively as it is on this record. The internet was created for sharing files like this and, hopefully, this will expand your consciousness as much as it has mine. I have been looking for other records from this series for years but to no avail. Anyone out there know anything about this label? Or, better yet, if you have another record from this series, would you be so kind as to share? I can’t imagine anything being as good as this, though.
