The Now – “I’m Eating Off A Fashion Plate” 7″ (1978)

Another record that I am missing the jacket for. Oh, well. I got my $0.99 out of this thing. What we have here is raw Punk Rock power in its purest form. Ferocious, blazing guitars that slices through the speakers like a switchblade knife, mixed with driving, intense bass-lines, primal, out of control drumming, and savage bite-your-face-off vocals that are liable to blast the paint off the walls. This baby just rips from start to finish and makes other 70’s punk bands like The Kids or The Germs sound like pussies. This might just be the best KBD record ever, released by Armand Schaubroeck’s Kack Klick label.

White Flag – “Third Strike” LP (1984)

This was one of my favorite records as a kid. If this thing wasn’t on my turntable, then it was in the Walkman or the Poopy Mobile. I never got why this band wasn’t more popular. They were a California band and seemed to have a following out there and possibly in Europe, but in my neck of the woods no one even heard of them and I never got to see them live.
I think this is the best White Flag record. Their earlier stuff kind of sounded like the Germs and their later stuff drifted more and more towards Pop Punk. The LP had tight guitars and fast songs that stayed on the Rock side of Punk without stepping into Hardcore. Lyrically, the band was far ahead of their contemporaries and took shots at commies, phony anarchists and other taboo subjects with a blunt honesty that was much to my liking. The band didn’t seem to take themselves too seriously, either, and, based on the band photos, I sure hope they didn’t—they seemed more like a punk parody band, but they rocked! Fans of old West Coast punk should find something to like about this one.

Dr. Hilly James Hargis – “The United Nations Hoax” LP (196?)

Yeah, I could listen to this shit all fuckin’ day. I never tire of it. And, as I sit in my bunker, twenty feet below the ground, with my skin turning blue from ingesting colloidal silver, you can bet your ass I’m glad I took this stuff seriously! You people need to realize that the UN deal works both ways—those second and third world countries that are also UN members get to “police” us, too, if need be. And don’t you forget it!

The Wretched Ones – “Old Loud And Snotty” 7″ (1989)

This is the first Wretched Ones 7”, but it could just as easily be their latest, because these guys have consistently been doing the same stripped-down Oi! / Rock shtick since their inception. Which is fine—Mr. Poopy likes one-trick ponies. Why change something that works? And somehow I doubt it ever crossed these guy’s minds to “grow musically”. Fuck that.
For those unfamiliar with the band, all their songs tend to revolve around a handful of basic themes: We’re old. We work. We drink. We work. We drink. We’re miserable. We drink. Generally, I’m not a big fan of bands that glorify booze, but these guys are the real deal and produce good, honest working class music, so what’s not to love?

Raunchous Brothers – “Die! Faggot Die!” CDR (200?)

I don’t believe there is such a thing as perfection, but the first three tracks on this demo are about as close to perfection as a Metal band can get, as heard through the ears of Mr. Poopy, at least. Why don’t more bands do this sort of thing? And why do the few bands that attempt it fuck it up and sound like shit? And where is that album they recorded? I’ve been waiting for that thing for years!
Unfortunately, the other three songs on this thing aren’t nearly as good. “Prick Teasing Bimbo” is kind of lame, the Mentors cover is, of course, good, but it’s a cover, and God knows why they decided to butcher that Sabbath tune! What’s even more frustrating is that they had other songs that were 1,000 times better, hence, I really want to hear that unreleased album! Someone out there has to have a copy of that damn thing! Send a copy to Mr. Poopy and I’ll be your imaginary friend—I’ve waited long enough!
I lived in Chicago for about 11 years and this is the only band I ever found in that town that was worth a shit. Shitcago is kind of a rough town and it always struck me as odd that it would have such a queer-ass Punk / HC scene and lame music scene in general. This band almost redeemed that town and their live shows were great, as well. As an added bonus, I tacked on the tracks from the Anal Cunt split 7″.

Dr. Jack Van Impe – “The Coming War With Russia” LP (1973)

Should anyone be in need of an example of what a complete, gibbering lunatic sounds like, this LP should suffice. Honestly, I’ve listened to this LP about a half dozen times now and I still can’t give a detailed outline of what transpires on this thing. Mr. Van Impe is one of those religious fruitcakes that steals passages from the “Big Book Of Jewish Fairy Tales” and molds them to fit his “prophecies”—and manages to make a decent living at it, to boot! Sure, it sounds like I’m “hating” on the guy here, but I’m actually jealous. If someone gave me the chance to “interpret” the ambiguous crap in that book to earn my bread and butter, I could do it all fucking day—and probably better! I think I might have missed my calling—but it’s never too late! The thing is, I suspect you have to either be a complete lunatic or raving sociopath to feed people that sort of bullshit with a straight face, so maybe it’s not for me after all.
I saw an ad for this guy on TV a couple weeks ago, so apparently Jack Van Impe is still going strong. I figure there have to be at least several million idiots out there who buy into this sort of shit–and each of them should have to pay me a dollar. That should balance out the universe.

Double “O” Zeros – “Be A Zero” 7″ EP (1985)

Double “O” Zeros were a glam rock (not glam metal) band with a strong punk influence. They originally hailed from New Jersey and later moved to California, changing their name to “Zeros”, and did pretty well around the West Coast glam circuit, despite the fact there was already another well-known punk band from LA with the same name. Lead singer, Sammy Serious, had some good song writing abilities and had a pretty cool crooning / snotty voice that works well with this sort of stuff but, as we all know, show biz is a fickle Bitch Goddess, with the result that the Zeros wound up fading into obscurity instead of being the full-blown rock stars they deserved. You can probably still find the stuff they did under the name “Zeros” in cutout bins across the US.
The record posted here is either their first or second release. Pretty sure it was their first and, at any rate, this one doesn’t turn up much. In fact, I’d bet most people never even heard it. A real shame, too, ‘cuz it’s not bad at all, although cramming five well-produced songs onto a 33 1/3 rpm 7” didn’t do much for the fidelity. For some reason the kids at the local college radio station in my hick town seemed to love this record and played the shit out of it shortly after it came out, so I can boast some memory of this record. If you go to the Sammy Serious website, you can purchase a CD that has the early stuff from the 81-85 era of this almost forgotten band.
Found some footage of their early stuff on YouTube.

Public Humiliation – “Gooneytunes” 7″ EP (1985)

Mucho retardo adolescent punk that had some affiliation with the better known Pilsbury Hardcore. Lyrically, this is as dumb as it gets and I actually had to do a search to remember which VJ Nina Blackwood was. And I still don’t remember the broad. I think I stopped paying attention after Martha Quinn. Thirteen tracks of sloppy, stupid as fuck punk rock on this thing.

Killing Children – “Certain Death” 7″ EP (1983)

Decent hardcore, produced by Paul Mahern, from out of Columbus, Ohio. This is your typical Class of 1983 hardcore that I never heard of until I found this thing a couple years ago. These guys were a little more obnoxious than most, but the lyrics are exceptionally bad which, according to the book of Mr. Poopy, means “good”.

Hal Lindsey – “The 1980′s: Countdown To Armageddon” LP (1980)

Well, I hope no one has been holding their breath since this one came out. Looks like we’re still here almost thirty years later, so what do you have to say about that, Hal? Seems like there is always some jerk trying to tells us it’s the end of the world and right now they’re going hog wild with it. It’s gonna happen in 2012—look out!! My fuckin’ ass!! Don’t even get my hopes up!! Hal Lindsey, as some of you may or may not know, wrote a book and later a movie called “ The Late, Great Planet Earth” that had a lot of people’s panties in a bundle back in the day. I think he had a TV show, as well, but I’m fishing the old memory banks on that one. A quick search reveals that this guy is still alive, but I haven’t heard a thing about him in years.
What we have here is your typical Christian nuttiness and Prophecy based on the “Big Book Of Jewish Fairy Tales”. Lunatics like this have been providing folks like me with something to laugh at for years and years. And it will never end. These people are never going to shut up until they get the Armageddon they’ve been praying for.

Flyin’ Spiderz – S/T LP (1977)

This is one of the few foreign bands I’ll be putting up here and not a very popular one at that. A lot of Punk critics described these guys as “generic” and “fake”, which is pretty funny because that is exactly why I like them. I love fake Punk bands—a lot of the time they wind up being more entertaining than the “real” ones. But I think Flyin’ Spiders were a “real” punk band. At the very least, they were real kids and the lyrics to these songs are so juvenile they crack me up. I especially love the lyrics to “Take My Time”—such a song has no place in the adult world. This record boasts a few Class of ’77 relics that seem to have fallen through the cracks.

Flyin’ Spiders – “Let It Crawl” LP (1978)

This is the second Flyin’ Spiderz LP. It’s pretty much the same shtick as the first one, which is fine with me. More corny observations and teenage angst that really didn’t stand up against a lot of their contemporaries, but entertains the hell out of me. This LP seems a little more consistent than the first one, although they no longer had the major label backing. There are some great songs on this disk—I don’t know why people poo-poo’d these guys, although everything they did after this one wasn’t too hot.

Lost Cause – “Forgotten Corners” LP (1982)

We’ll keep running with the juvenile Punk theme and toss up this Southern California band. This LP is pretty much a stereotype of what was going on in this neck of the woods around this time, but it’s not like that’s such a bad thing–just don’t try cranking out the same shit in 2009! I always grouped this band in with the likes of “poofy” punks like Mad Parade and TSOL for some reason. Several catchy mid-tempo punk tunes on here.

Dan Smoot – “The Fearless American” LP (1964?)

Another John Birch LP from back in their heyday in the early to mid-sixties. Actually, I don’t believe Dan Smoot was totally on board with those guys, but his ideology was pretty much the same. Supposedly, he even had a beef with George Bush the Elder back in the day, accusing him of not being conservative enough! He was also a former FBI agent and published a publication called the Dan Smoot Report for a number of years and wrote a couple books that rest in the Mr. Poopy archives. It should be a cause for concern that people were talking like this back in those days—things weren’t nearly as bad back then as they are now.

White Noise – “The First Assault” LP (1989)

I suppose a lot of people took a pass on this Australian outfit due to the band name, the fact that it’s on Rock-o-Rama, the cover art, and the fact that these guys were a bunch of Nazis. Well, I would describe that as your loss and Mr. Poopy’s gain, because this is a pretty good record, all in all. For one thing, they actually sank some money into production, giving it a heavy, “wall-of-sound” feel and musically I would have to describe them as a cross between “Bonecrusher”-era Broken Bones and “Boots and Braces”-era Skrewdriver, with a slight dash of early Discharge, if you can believe it. Sounds like a winning combination to me! Lyrically, they stick to the typical “street rock” subject matter, with the exception of “Culture Shock”, which is an anti-gay, and specifically anti-Boy George tirade—and a pretty hilarious one at that! This is what I used to call “tough guy music” and now you can be a “tough guy”, too, and download it to a secret file on your computer, being sure to never admit to your PC friends that you like this stuff. Pussy.

Tom Anderson – “Here We Go Again” LP (1964?)

This LP was put out on KEY Records, the label run by the John Birch Society. I own several records on this label. This right wing organization had a large following back in the 60’s, consisting mostly of independent businessmen and other “upright” citizens. Their failing appeared to be a lack of willingness to take radical action to support their beliefs, leading to a drop in membership. They still have chapters all over the US, but they are a shell of what they used to be.
Yes, there is no music here—you have to be able to pay attention and focus on what people are saying. It’s pretty “tough” stuff and probably beyond the mental capacity of most of you shmoes. I feel it is important to bring these old records back to light, as what is being spoken of on this LP reflects very much the type of talk I hear floating around today in various circles and a lot of what is said on these records actually came true later on. This LP was recorded at the height of the John Birch Society’s power, during the midst of the Johnson administration. Many people blame some of the policies set into motion during this presidency as being responsible for a lot of the destructive policies the US now suffers from—especially immigration. Of course, I wasn’t there, but I tend to pay attention to what was going on around this time, as it appears that this was when things really began falling apart for us. Plenty more vintage anti-Commie stuff where this came from.

Joe Aufricht – “Mockery & Perversion” Cassette (1995)

If this Blog accomplishes nothing else, it will be that the world will finally get to hear all the Joe Aufricht tapes. Not that the world is dying to hear it mind you, and you may wish you were dead after about ten minutes of this shit! Parts of the “Perversion” side of this tape have been kicking around the web for a while, but now you clowns get to hear the whole thing. Honestly, I couldn’t guess at the number of times I’ve listened to Side One of this tape—I’d definitely say a lot—possibly nearing the triple digits. I kid you not. But I’m not alone in my love of this tape and Mr. Aufricht should take a bow for amusing us far more than we deserve.
I’ll confess I’m a little clumsy at explaining this thing, but what Joe says in the first couple sentences of Side One pretty much sums it up, whether you realize it or not. The uninitiated may listen to this and think they are listening to some guy trying to be weird / offensive / sophomoric and while, indeed, it does sound like that, I can assure you that you are dead wrong to think so. Understand that and clear your mind of all illusions to the contrary. Joe is not joking around on this thing—he is totally serious. Once you have fully grasped that fact, it starts to take on entirely new dimensions and the real fun begins. This thing really smacks you in the back brain and, if it doesn’t, then you are not being honest with yourself or, perhaps, you’re a woman. Realize that this only makes sense to Joe and that it is only meaningful to Joe and that he could care less if it means anything to anybody else but him. If you can’t get through this tape, the other ones below will be even tougher.
Joe also plays guitar in a Black Metal band called Satanicon, despite the fact that he has to be almost fifty years old by now and, no doubt, the mentally fit, rational members of that community are doing wonders for the guy! Hail Satanic Youthfulness!

Joe Aufricht – “Youthful Satanic Ecstacy” Cassette (1993)

Here is another of the four Joe Aufricht tapes I own. I believe this was his first one–not like it matters. Did you ever play with a tape recorder when you were a kid, making your own little radio shows, perhaps? Well, I did. It was tons of fun, too. Apparently, Mr. Aufricht enjoyed it, as well. In fact, he like it so much, he figured he’d keep right on doing it up into his early 30’s. In this thing, he is traveling back in time and recreating a period in his life when he was 13-years-old and fell in love with a 9-year-old girl a couple of grades below him. Was there a “target audience” for this stuff, Joe?

Joe Aufricht – “Evil Phone Prankster” Cassette (1994)

In this one, Joe is back to the year of 1994 and is no longer 13-years-old. However, he still hasn’t gotten over the 9-year-old he had the hots for, although I gather this story takes place when they are a little older. This is as close as he gets to a straightforward narrative, but it still isn’t easy to get through from start to finish. If one thing stands out immediately, it’s that Joe just doesn’t know when to quit. Seriously. And how does he remember all this shit in such vivid detail? The guy is recalling events that happened 20 years ago, as a child, no less, like it was a couple of days ago, complete with dialogue! I think most people are pretty happy to forget those awkward early teen years, but Joe is completely hung up on them and is determined to re-live them, only getting it right the second time around! This is a tale of insanity and desperate young love, told through the lips of a maniac.
