HIPPIES: Hypocrisy and “Happiness” – Booklet (1968)

Well, I’m not even going to beat around the bush here.  While there are a lot of factors that have been boiling under the surface for a long, long time that lead to the current crisis the US is facing, I don’t mind putting a nice chunk of the blame on this generation of assholes.  At the very least, I can credit these guys with starting the ball rolling for all the PC, leftist horseshit that has me banging my head against the wall these days.  At the same time, I can’t help but grudgingly tip my hat to the Hippies a little because they managed to kick up quite a stink at the time, the likes of which no youth movement has even come remotely close to touching.  However, I blame a good part of their success to the fact that the authorities during those times were totally clueless on what to make of those people or how to handle them.  Too bad they had to wait until May 4th, 1970 to get it right.

This booklet was written when the Hippie movement was going full force and does a nice job of showing it for what it was: a mass reaction to all the greed, hate, ugliness, war, conformity and miscellaneous bullshit this life has to offer.  And it’s not like these kids were wrong to be outraged.  The irony of this booklet lies in the fact that any Hippie who actually bought into what this particular author is laying down would have jumped right from the frying pan and into the fire.  This is an interesting piece of history and one can certainly draw some comparisons to today’s wayward youth—especially those Emo kids!  When all is said and done, I guess I can grudgingly give some slack to these misled rebels of yesteryear, despite all the problems they’ve caused.  But, as for you contemporary Hippies?  GO DIE!!! Preferably before I have to look at you or smell you again.

Yes, I kind of fucked up this scan—you have to rotate the view.
